Langshott were commissioned to complete a full scale renovation and refurbishment project of a Victorian cottage near Crawley, West Sussex. The project also required Langshott to carry out Landscaping, fencing and driveway and Paving. The cottage was also extended to the side and the upper story was extended to create a larger bedroom.
This property was 100 years old. All of the external walls are severely damaged due to inadequate foundations, standard procedure to resolve the problem would be to underpin the property. Another option would be to demolish the property and start again. To our client demolishing the property was not an option due to certain characteristics and memories in the property.
Langshott working closely with our architects and structural engineers designed a scheme where we could support the existing roof and chimney structures, so all the damaged external walls could be demolished, new footings could be excavated carefully with a mechanical digger, new concrete footings installed and new traditional structural cavity walls constructed.
